Proper Rest

Just as a weary army of soldiers need time to rest from the battlefield, so does the immune system. It is during the time of rest that repair is made. Let’s learn a spiritual lesson from this from the Bible.
2 Chronicles 14:5 “Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.”
Let’s say the 'images' in this scenario represent a foreign substance in the body.
2 Chronicles 14:6 “And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest.”
The 'images' or the foreign substances, had been removed and the land was at rest.
2 Chronicles 14:7 “Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.”
The Lord gave the people of Judah rest when they did their part in removing the "foreign substance" out of the body of Judah. Then, when they were at rest, they built up the walls, towers, gates and bars and fortified the city. This all happened while they were at rest. In a similar way, this happens too in our physical body. It repairs itself when the body systems are at rest, and we make the body's job a whole lot easier when we keep those "idolatrous" substances out of our body. Get an adequate amount of restful sleep. A light supper will help. Minimise or avoid stressful circumstances. Anyone familiar with “jet lag” knows how well the body works with habits. Establish good habits to help manage any stress. Try a relaxing soak in a warm water bath or shower after a stressful day. It may help you unwind enough so that you will not need that harmful sleeping pill. Setting regular times for going to bed and rising will also help with getting proper rest. The best time to go to bed is between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. and no later.
